The scale of the event is unrivalled, with the attractions spread across a huge site from a Main Square and Main Street to a Ghost Town and The Fields. The two largest covered bars are the Moose Bar and Saloon Bar. There's also a selection of thrill rides including X-Hell-R8, Dodgems, The Joker and a Simulator. Other optional extras are the Vege-Hurlers, Paintball, Tarot Reading and Face Painting.
The nine main horror attractions:
- The Creepy Cottage - a classic haunted house that's not the longest or scariest attraction at the event, so it was the perfect warm-up to the rest of the night.
- VIXI - this excellent hooded maze returns, and if the thought of navigating a scare maze in total darkness with just a rope to follow isn't scary enough, then the combination of icy blasts, bursts of fire, whispers in your ear and feeling of being touched, is sure to put you on edge.
- The Village: Coven of 13 - one of our favourites this year, with a really effective swamp scene making great use of smoke and lasers, followed by a series of detailed indoor and outdoor spaces with very enthusiastic actors.
- Horrorwood Haunted Hayride - a signature Tulleys attraction and always a highlight of the event, so we were very excited to jump aboard for a tour of the deep dark woods. It did not disappoint, with impressive scenes, plenty of actors invading the ride and lots of special effects.
- The Cellar - extended for 2018, and much more intense than before. A horrendous story about imprisoned victims that have turned to cannibalism unfolds, and you are about to become their prey! It's dark, claustrophobic, and the strobe section got our hearts racing.
- Twisted Clowns 3D - after putting on a pair of 3D glasses you are sent through a fun house that's filled with creepy, cheeky and sometimes twisted clowns. Most of the 3D effects are surprisingly good, as are the other optical illusions that play with your sense of scale and balance. It's a lot of fun.
- The Chop Shop - by far the most terrifying scare maze at this year's event, we felt genuinely shaken from the relentless gauntlet of chainsaw wielding maniacs. A very disorientating experience and it feels like you'll never escape. The actors are very intimidating, so this is only suitable for the bravest souls.
- The Colony - extended for 2018 so definitely the longest scare maze, a fantastic blend of indoor and outdoor sections across a sprawling site. It's completely immersive and packed with effective jumps, not to mention the pitch black sections where it's easy to get lost!
- The Circus of Horrors - new for 2018, an army of freaks have joined the event, performing five 20 minute live shows every night. Dr Haze was in charge on the opening weekend, and Camp Dracula takes over as host for the remainder of the run. A very entertaining show, full and weird and wonderful acts.
