Pleasurewood Hills has announced that an old favourite is back for 2016, as the classic Waveswinger ride returns to the theme park.

The original Waveswinger was a popular ride at the theme park during the 1980s and 1990s. It has been brought back as part of the 'Woody Magic' programme to restore some sparkle and nostalgia.

Fantasy Island has confirmed that the resort has been bought by international leisure group, Mellors Group. The news signals positive change for the theme park in Skegness, which had been placed into administration.

Mellors Group, who already own a leisure park in Dubai – coincidentally also called Fantasy Island – are responsible for popular events including London’s Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, Nottingham Winter Wonderland, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Beach, The Nottingham Beach and the siting of giant Observation wheels around the UK. They now intend to bring a lot of their family’s showmanship to the East Coast. The group is also familiar with caravan park operations within the UK, so brings vast and varied experience to the Skegness resort.

Lightwater Valley theme park in North Yorkshire will open a new spinning swing tower ride and a soft play area in 2016.
